Nominees: Most Beautiful Object in South Africa 2018

most beautiful object

COMPILED BY Lindi Brownell Meiring

Every year, as part of the Design Indaba Festival, the nominees are announced for the year’s Most Beautiful Object in South Africa.

Ten prominent South African figures, from entrepreneurs and artists to designers and authors, have each chosen something that they feel is deserving of the title. In the end, the public chooses one of the 10 via an online voting system. Previous winners include Nkuli Mlangeni’s Sankara Rug (2017), Laduma Ngxokolo of MaXhosa’s shawl (2016) and Mark Thomas and Henry Fagan’s Boomslang in Kirstenbosch (2015).

Below, in no particular order, is a list of this year’s 10 nominees. Vote for your favourite here.
