The brand-new Virgin Active Collection health club has just opened its doors in the V&A Waterfront’s up-and-coming Silo District, next to the much-anticipated Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA).
Opened in November 2016, this stylish 3 912m2 space comes fully equipped – from a 20 m lap pool and smart Wattbikes to Suspension Yoga studios and a FoxBox Finishing Bar. There’s a café and wine bar, steam rooms, saunas, spa pools, Mac work stations, a Biokineticist and lockers with charging plugs.
When asked about the look and feel of the club, Virgin Group Founder, Sir Richard Branson, stated he wanted it to look “tasteful, not stuffy.” This is something that the club certainly pulls off – the interior has even been submitted for a four-star Green Star SA rating. Natural light highlights the modern raw concrete, light wood, industrial elements and bright colour throughout the space.
This luxurious club is the first of its kind to be opened in Cape Town, joining the likes of Alice Lane and Melrose Arch in Johannesburg, Menlyn Maine in Pretoria and Moses Mabhida in Durban.
The Virgin Active Collection Silo District is situated at Silo 4, South Arm Road, V&A Waterfront. To apply for membership, visit virginactive.co.za.
