This October, Cape Town’s leading architecture firms and interior and urban design studios will throw open their doors for the annual Open Studios event.

Transformed by two fashion designer from a sculptor’s workshop into a playful dwelling, this compact Cape Town home is all about the bold deployment of materials both salvaged and new.

Built on the Portuguese coast, this contemporary house confidently embraces both modernism and the landscape to be a refuge in which concrete converses with the local vegetation.

Few homes carry their history as gracefully as this 1920s house in Turís, Spain. Shaped by almost a century of family life, the house has been thoughtfully restored to welcome the next generation.
