New Work From Sarah Pratt: Migration Exhibition

WORDS Mary Garner

Zimbabwe-born, Cape Town-based artist and specialised printmaker Sarah Pratt has created a new body of work under the title Migration.

Her latest works, completed in gouache on paper, sees her fascination continue with the natural world, with this collection featuring a range of perfectly captured puffins, zebras, penguins, hyenas, wild dogs and horses.

In Migration, not all of the animals featured are migrating, instead some of them are taking rides on the backs of others in order to witness the group exodus invisible outside of the frame.

The creatures in the pieces are reminiscent of those featured on popular wallpapers during the eighteenth century.

Migration will be exhibited in Cape Town at Salon Ninety One from 24 January until 24 February 2018.
