We’re excited to announce the launch of Alive Architecture, an initiative aimed at showing the “art in architecture” through pop-up galleries across the country.
VISI blogger and architect Pieter-Ernst Maré, in association with Lupini Architects, has dreamt up a concept that will become a platform for architects and students to show their work in a public space and share ideas with other like-minded individuals.
The goal, really, is to show that architecture isn’t just about “keeping water out of a space”, but an exploration of materials, ideas and philosophies that’s then translated into a physical structure.
The first exhibition in October will include previously unpublished work and will take place in Joburg. According to Pieter-Ernst, the team behind the concept hopes that the exhibition will get enough interest to then continue to other cities around the country.
Alive Architecture is a non-profit organisation designed to enhance relationships between architects and their lifeblood: the public.
Keep an eye on http://alive.withtank.com/ for more information or email alive.architecture@gmail.com if you’re keen to participate.
