A Read on City Regeneration

Landscape architect, writer and publisher Gerald Garner has just released his second book: Johannesburg Ten Ahead.

Following closely on Johannesburg – Spaces & Places (a guide to the city’s hidden gems) – Johannesburg Ten Ahead explores a decade’s worth of regeneration in Joburg’s inner city through the eyes of Gerald, an intrepid urban adventurer.

Garner is a passionate ambassador of inner-city regeneration and enjoys walking Johannesburg’s streets to discover the latest the metropol has to offer. While writing this book, the author spent time living in an apartment atop Auckland House in Braamfontein from where he eagerly soaked up spectacular views of the city’s regeneration in progress.

Johannesburg Ten Ahead continues to expand his body of work and his personal mission of stimulating debate about the state of the human-constructed environment. Garner encourages the reader to share in his journey of discovery.

The book, published by Double G Media will be available from good book stores in about a month’s time. In the meantime, you can order it directly from gerald@joburgplaces.com.
