The Dream in Kohler competition, launched in March this year, challenged local designers to create their dream bathrooms.
Miguel Da Silva, Michael Dennett and Wilh van der Merwe were announced as the three finalists, selected from hundreds of entries by a panel of expert judges. After a public vote, architect Wilh van der Merwe was recently announced as the winner.
His winning bathroom design will now be recreated at 100% Design South Africa at Decorex in Joburg, running from 8 – 12 August 2018.
“My inspiration for the design was natural nature, i.e. being close to nature in our most natural state and addressing what matters when you find yourself in your most natural state,” shares Wilh.
“As a designer one sometimes wonders whether what you put your passion into is appreciated and understood,” he adds. “Winning this competition is affirmation that your work is valued, appreciated and enjoyed.”
