This dreamy bird’s nest located on the grounds of Château Raray, a castle in northern France, is available to rent on Airbnb.
According to its creators, Atelier LAVIT, the design challenge was to create a functional and comfortable hotel room, being faithful to the first inspiration of the project: a bird’s nest. “The design of the cabin, coupled with the construction techniques, led to a rationalisation of the assembly logic of the branches collected by the birds to create their impregnable shelters.”
The 23-square-metre cabin is accessed via a walkway suspended 10 m above the ground. Guests enter through glass sliding doors and each room features large windows to maximise the lush forest views. A ladder leads to a rooftop patio. The interior walls are clad in poplar and the furniture was custom-made by Atelier LAVIT.
