The Most Expensive Footbridge In The World?

The plans for the controversial Garden Bridge, designed by acclaimed British designer Thomas Heatherwick, in association with civil engineers Arup and landscape designer Dan Pearson, have just been approved.

The 367-metre long bridge will span the River Thames in London and is reported to be the most expensive footbridge in the world, with estimates reaching £175 million. 

The pedestrian bridge, which will be covered in indigenous plants and trees (inspired by actress Joanna Lumley’s idea for a new London park), will be completed by 2017.
