Ease yourself into the glorious season of friends, family and entertaining with this delightful Delft-inspired table setting by Karen Kelly from Lovilee. To get you in the mood, we are also giving away a R500 party pack of goodies for you to try this at home!

“I was planning on doing a styled festive table, but wanted to move away from the traditional reds and greens,” says Karen. “The initial thought was to go with either yellow or blue.  I am totally crazy about Delft-inspired white-and-blue porcelain and started noticing this trend in stores – very subtle but there, in both clothing and home decor items.” (Read VISI’s Delft trend report here.)

But when Karen saw the paper Delft plates stocked by In Good Company, her mind was made up: “I wanted rich blues for the shoot, paired with whites. I chose the plates as the main feature, together with a blueberry-topped white cake and then worked around these elements, bringing in the white fabric hydrangeas from Moi Decor and bottles covered in blue yarn.”

Bringing it all together was photographer Duane Smith whose style was a perfect match for the shoot.

A daily wedding, parenting and decor inspiration blog, you’d be surprised to learn that Lovilee is the work of  a BSc Mathematical Sciences graduate! Karen started it just over three years ago while researching wedding ideas. Initially a part-time personal project, it has evolved into a blog brimming with all kinds of handy tips, printables and inspiration, as well as having an online store that, with a collection of handmade goodies, could be a girl’s other best friend!

We’re giving a R500 party pack (six Delft paper dinner plates, six Delft paper side plates, six thank you cards, six For You tags, blue and white origami birds, white serviettes, blue cutex, six crackers, notepad and pen).
