Nixon Blaster Speaker, R1 499 : It works via Bluetooth so it is completely wireless. It’s also fully portable, so you can take it to a friend’s place, the beach or a picnic. I rest my case.|
The Black + Blum Hot Pot, R1 499 : Part-grill and part-planter, this is just perfect. I hate the sight of a grill or braai stand when unused. This way, it’s not just out of sight but it serves an aesthetically pleasing function.|
Blue Lounge Charging station, R799 : There is no escaping the messy terror of the charging cable, and until the day when all charging is wireless, your best bet is a charging station.|
The Crosley Cruiser turntable, turquoise, R1 999. : I’m not really one for old technology, even for nostalgia’s sake, but this won me over. Even if I didn’t get much use out of it, it would make a great ornament, and conversation piece.|
Alphabet lights, R5 999 : Who among us have not dreamt of seeing their name in lights? I might certainly have, and seeing as no one is gonna do it for me, I might just buy these for my man cave, where the star is me.|
WORDS Malibongwe Tyilo
In case you haven’t noticed by now, the well known flash sale site Citymob has completed its rebranding and relaunched as Superbalist.com. Here at VISI we do love a spot of shopping and we’re superbly excited for the revamp. Our editor-at-large Malibongwe Tyilo jumped feet first into the new site and chose his top five picks for the week.
In its new guise, Superbalist will also carry permanent and seasonal lines, in addition to its 10-day events, 30-day pop-up shops and other sale formats, across all its categories, which include apparel, art, homeware and all things gadgetry.
“We wanted to become a destination where our customers know that they can always get certain products from us,” says managing director Luke Jedeiken. “But with Citymob we couldn’t do this. Nothing was permanent; all products lived in time-limited, 10-day sales. We came to a point where we realised we had outgrown Citymob, that we needed to be more to our customers”
