Anyone who’s a fan of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden would love the idea of discovering a version of this fictional place in real-life.
And it exists. In Mexico, you’ll find Las Pozas, a sculptural garden created by eccentric 20th-century British poet Edward James. After inheriting a massive fortune from his father, Edward built this mystical labyrinth.
“It’s an aggressive conversation between nature and the structures,” says the garden’s Project Director, Matthew Holmes. “The garden is in charge.”
This beautifully shot video, by NOWNESS, tells the story behind how the garden came to be and what inspired its surrealist architectural creations.
