An eclectic array of home decor left us blissed out at the Decorex Cape Town 2013. Highlights ranged from peaceful retro spaces to cutting-edge contemporary design, as some of Cape Town’s leading decorators were invited to interpret this year’s Decorex Cape Town theme of bliss.
As avid lovers of cross-stitch we were big fans of Tracy Lynch’s exquisite depiction of “a quiet time spent” cross-stitching, displaying dramatic embroidered pieces by French tapestry artist Frederique Morrel (who features on the cover of our VISI 65 Autumn edition).
Stephan Lasker, whose Edge Interiors represents Dutch design house Moooi in South Africa, named his stand “gold vs evil” with a teepee-like pyramid daybed from Mobelli hosting a designer pig and skull party.
At The Tearoom, Adriaan Lochner was on-trend with a super stylish blue-and-white Delft-inspired installation that included charming chandeliers that all the visitors wanted to take home.
The winner of the best décor stand at Decorex Cape Town was Stephan Frylinck of Space for Life who created a gorgeous fifties retro lounge at the Volvo #MADEFORYOU designer pods. Tanya Sturgeon of T & Co won best small stand for her little red velvet circus tent that everyone loved.
