Cool Spaces: Infinity Restaurant

We scoped out the design, impressive panoramic views and bold local flavours at Infinity Restaurant – Cape Town’s new eatery in the sky.

Located in Hotel Sky on Cape Town’s Foreshore, the Infinity Restaurant is everything a glamorous ‘skystronomy’ experience should be: spectacular food infused with local flavours and a 360-degree view to match.

The menu, created by Olympian Executive Chef Henrico and his team, boasts a smorgasbord of on-trend dishes made from fresh, top-quality locally-sourced ingredients. There are mouth-watering dishes like Smoked Chicken with green vegetables, root vegetables, pickle mix and charred pepper, Tikka Chicken with Bo-Kaap style curried butternut squash, chimichurri sauce and pickles, and an absolutely delicious Moroccan Spiced Beef Brisket with smoked carrot cream, sour leek, poor man’s mustard, layered potatoes stack with horse radish.

There’s also a selection of decadent desserts (the Dark & White Chocolate with orange is out of this world), a stellar wine list and a fabulous selection of French champagnes, MCCs and Prosecco to complement the menu.

The interior of the 165-seater restaurant is in-keeping with the opulent, playful decor that runs throughout Hotel Sky. There’s tropical wallpaper with exotic birds, mixed textures, animal print dining chairs, shimmering crystal chandeliers as well as splashes of cream, lilac and emerald green. “We live in a country known for its gold and diamonds, wildlife, colourful birds and flowers. This hotel is a celebration of all these elements,” says Johan Franck who conceptualised the hotel with his business partner Paul Kelley.

It also serves as the perfect spot to take in the sunset over the Mother City while enjoying a sundowner (or two). Not to be missed is the restaurant’s namesake drink – the Infinity Cocktail – shaken with Bacardi, mango, strawberry and curaçao, its bursting with the all flavours of the tropics.

The 10-seater ‘Captain’s Table’ seats 10 and offers arguably the best views in the house. We’d suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment as Hotel Sky is set to become a local hotspot as we move into the festive season.
