If you’re Capetonian, you’ve probably spotted the new Portside skyscraper in the CBD, a massive 139m high structure that feels like it popped up overnight.

A joint venture between FirstRand Bank and Old Mutual, this momentous project was executed by dhk architects and Louis Karol Architects.

Besides being the tallest building in the Mother City, it’s also the greenest. Hybrid parking bays, electric car chargers and LED lighting all contribute to its 5 Star Green Star SA rating.

If you’re ever in the CBD, try one of the café’s on Portside’s ground floor – there’s Hard Pressed Café (where you can grab a cuppa and listen to vinyls), a new vida e caffè and a sushi restaurant. Plus there’s a small spa wedged in between it all too.
