Pineapple House, a colourful new boutique hotel, recently opened its doors in Cape Town’s Sea Point.
Owned and run by Rupert and Lesley Sykes, the bright space is comprised of nine luxury suites, focused on a fusion of traditional and contemporary African design. Rupert and Lesley were the lead creatives on the project, working closely with Grobler Architects and Melissa Kerkhoff, owner of Lula Fabrics.
Local art and bold fabrics are used throughout the hotel, creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. Each suite has its own specific style, while the communal areas creatively use space and colour to create that holiday feeling.
Outside, a wooden deck frames an azure-blue splash pool, perfect for sunbathing and sipping cocktails, while breakfast can be eaten on the Moroccan-tiled balcony. Inside, exposed brick complements brightly painted walls and a cast-iron fireplace is the perfect spot for reading on chilly evenings.
Pineapple House also invests energy into being a green and eco-conscious hotel, using intelligent lighting and solar panels to reduce electrical usage.
