Cape Town Apartment: Clifton 301

Clifton 301, a contemporary apartment, is Cape Town-based design studio OKHA‘s latest interior design project.

This two-bedroom apartment, set in a luxury complex designed by local architecture studio SAOTA, boasts Table Mountain’s rolling Twelve Apostles on either side. OKHA director Adam Court and his team set out to individualise the space by modulating the internal colour palette. The result is a calming, restorative space.

Subtle shades of green emulate the delicate natural tonalities of the surrounding landscape. The iconic glinting granite of Table Mountain and pastel fynbos are translated into the apartment through the use of rich, raw materials – natural timbers, stone and metals. Pleasant juxtapositions exist in the form of plush velvets and linen-dotted walls, floors and furnishings.

The space also features hand-made furnishings custom designed by OKHA, adding the final touches. Dream Emperor Marble and Absolute Black Granite tabletops are paired with steel bases in the side, coffee and balcony tables, while the dining table, barstools and server are hewn from carbon-stained, wire-brushed Ash timber. “The palette is intentionally and carefully controlled and restrained to embrace the ever-changing colours of the sunrise and sunset, which are the real centrepiece and art show,” says Adam.
