Karen Roos’s Babylonstoren is VISI first pick when it comes to winelands accommodation and dining. And it seems we’re not the only ones – Tatler magazine has named Babylonstoren as one of the best hotels of 2012.
Winner of the ‘Food Glorious Food’ category, Babylonstoren’s Babel restaurant’s fresh cuisine, straight from Karen’s unbelievable garden has international guests in rapture.
Tatler has commended the working farm as “a fresh, chic whitewashed retreat with kitchen gardens to dazzle and happy chefs to fill your tummy”. They have firmly pronounced it as “the most delicious opening of the year” and we couldn’t agree more.
Other hotels on Tatler’s list are Le Royal Moceau (FR) who have been dubbed the ‘Best New Hotel’, and Borgo Eganzia (IT) which Tatler reckon is best for a family stay. The ‘Immaculate Service’ title went to Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc (FR) while Hong Kong’s Mandarin Oriental scooped ‘Enduring Excellence’. Tatler considers the world-renowned Devi Ratn in India as its ‘Best New Sensation’ of the year.
Other exciting news for Babylonstoren devotees is that the restaurant’s new summer menu is now available. Think tart of artichoke, tamrillo, caramelised onion and chevin with fresh bloody sorrel and basil – and that’s (literally) just for starters.
