WORDS Lindi Brownell Meiring
With space at an all-time premium the world over, the idea of an apartment designed to save as much space as possible is pretty awesome.
Yo! Home is the brainchild of Simon Woodroffe, the man behind YO! Sushi, and the affordable luxury hotel chain, YOTEL. He believes that style and quality shouldn’t be sacrificed when attempting to maximise space in a home.
Each 40 m2 studio-style Yo! Home comes with a “pocket kitchen,” which can store all of your appliances, including a washing machine and an oven, the sink and storage areas. It can then be “packed away” behind closed doors (as seen in the gallery above).
Thanks to a hidden false floor and ceiling design, the space also comes with a sinkable dining table and a raisable bed, as well as loads of storage space, including handy hidden floor compartments.
The final Yo! Homes come as a result of a thorough testing and prototyping process. The first 24 will be built in a factory before being delivered as a completed “box”.
