The gallery’s new location, on a bustling tree-lined street, allows for a real taste of contemporary Cape Town life while still being in a heritage-rich area of the city centre.

WORLDART gallery has recently moved to a new, spacious venue on Long Street. This historic building features large windows that fill the space with natural light, providing an enhanced viewing experience. The relocation allows the gallery to showcase a broader selection of art, giving visitors more variety to explore and enjoy.

Founded in 2004 by art broker Charl Bezuidenhout, WORLDART has become one of South Africa’s leading galleries. It is recognised for its adventurous spirit and unique emphasis on urban and contemporary African art with a global perspective. The gallery serves as a platform for artists to experiment and address socio-political issues such as inequality, consumerism, identity, and globalization. Many artists associated with the gallery have achieved international recognition, highlighting both Cape Town’s and WORLDART’s significant roles in the broader urban art movement.

“WORLDART has over the last two decades specialised in urban contemporary art or art that’s influenced by street art and pop art. But over the last few years, we have branched out into other diverse genres. And because of that, we have decided to move to a bigger space in an exciting and better location where local art lovers and international travellers can find artwork to add to their collection,” says Charl Bezuidenhout.

Current Exhibitions

To celebrate this exciting new beginning, WORLDART has opened its new space with solo exhibitions by two celebrated artists, Kilmany-Jo Liversage and Norman O’Flynn, featured in a unique joint showcase.
