VISI Great Spaces Tour: Foghound Interactive Coffee Company

Taking a quick break from Decorex and 100% Design South Africa, VISI readers joined us on Thursday 6 August 2015 to tour the new shipping container home of Foghound Interactive Coffee Company in Joburg.

Discussing the pros and cons of employing this increasingly popular building technique was Foghound owner Neil Symon, as well as architect André Eksteen and interior designer Hendrieka Raubenheimer, both from Earthworld Architects. They shared tales about the spray-on insulation that gave them more than they bargained for, the structural issues they encountered when removing container walls to open up larger spaces and the difficulties in making the basic shipping container structure waterproof.

After gaining a great appreciation of the time that goes into turning shipping containers into workable spaces, guests left with the latest issue of VISI and a complimentary bottle of Graham Beck Brut.
