Bright and early on Thursday 19 May 2016 a sold-out group of VISI readers met up at the gorgeous Babylonstoren farm in the Groot Drakenstein for an exciting VISI Great Spaces tour.
After mingling and browsing the homely farm stall, the guests received an introduction by farm manager Terry de Waal and VISI editor-in-chief Sumien Brink. The group was then divided into two to embark on the garden tour, as well as a tour of the new Farmhouse and spa.
The garden tour was conducted by resident horticulturist Gundula Deutschlander. VISI readers were given interesting facts, titbits, tastes and stories about the thriving grounds. After a brisk and refreshing walk, the group paused at the Greenhouse to taste delicious complimentary homemade iced tea.
The second part of the tour started in the moody library and bar, fondly known as the Butterfly Room, after the rare and bright collection of butterfly species on display. Readers were then given the opportunity to climb a solid-wood spiral staircase into the Queen Bee Loft (extremely popular for guests on their honeymoon).
The last stop on the tour was a visit to the tranquil spa, before guests made their way to the modern and toasty tasting room to sample esteemed Babylonstoren wines, while dining on organic platters showcasing Babylonstoren’s fresh produce.
Each visitor took home a freshly baked garlic bread and two issues of VISI magazine.
