The new Upper Bloem Restaurant, located in Cape Town’s Green Point, was designed by local interior design firm Liam Mooney Studio.
Headed up by Head Chef Andre Hill, who co-owns the restaurant with Chef Patron Henry Vigar, both of whom have their roots at the well-known La Mouette, the cuisine champions both local ingredients and seasonal produce.
“Sitting at sunset on the balcony in my street, Upper Bloem in Bo-Kaap, I’d look out over the city and the harbour,” says Andre on the Upper Bloem website. “That’s where the dream started.”
A bold colour palette, made up of pastel blue, white, mustard yellow and orange, has been used throughout the space. “The brief was actually for a grey industrial restaurant, which we semi stuck to,” says Liam. “We chose colours that represent the city. The Bo-Kaap is about colour, vibrancy and fun, so we made sure to reflect this in the design.”
Upper Bloem Restaurant is located at Shop 1, Winston Place, 65 Main Road, Green Point. The restaurant is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 6pm for dinner and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 12pm for lunch. For more information and to make a booking, visit upperbloemrestaurant.co.za.
