Apartment view : We were staying in an apartment in Montmartre, and this breathtaking view was a necessary reward after climbing five winding flights of stairs.|
Colour Pompidou : The cafe in the Pompidou centre feels like the womb of a robot, managing to be chilly and sensuous all at once, with its undulating shapes and palette of pink and silver.|
Food and coffee : This photo has such an air of peace and calm, which completely belies the fact that it was taken in a bustling alleyway, where I just managed to find a moment of quiet.|
Pattern chair : I snapped this pic of one of the ubiquitous cafe chairs in Paris without stopping, just as I walked by, and love the mood it captures.|
Airport shape : This was the first photo I took in Paris, early in the morning at Charles de Gaulle airport. My husband (artist, Paul Edmunds) and I were entranced by the elegant design and sympathetic use of materials in this vast space.|
Paris shopping : I took this photo in the Marais, down a little street in a peculiar little antiques shop. I think I probably should have brought that coat hook home with me...|
Cape Town’s favourite textile designer, Heather Moore aka Skinny LaMinx, shares the most inspiring moments of her Paris getaway.

As it happened, Pearl was off on a trip around France with her folks, which meant we had the use of a wonderful apartment on the fifth floor of a 19th century block in beautiful Montmartre.
Paul lived in Paris for a year as a 22-year old after having won the Volkskas Atelier award, and it was his first trip back. I’ve been a Francophile ever since high school, so our French is good and we know the city, which meant we could just wander around galleries and lunch spots without feeling obliged to see the sights. It was without a doubt the perfect way to mix business and pleasure.
