Cape Town-based art director Alison Parker has created an initiative that brings talented kids together with designers to create limited-edition decks.

The Sk8 for Gr8 programme, which revolves around Cape Town’s popular skateboarding scene, hosts a variety of workshops focused on a mentoring system, where designers work one on one with a child and teach them about design and the techniques associated with different design elements.

In the first series of workshops, each child influenced and inspired the design of five incredible skateboards, which were later auctioned off.

Sk8 for Gr8 is hosting their next auction on 20 August 2015, which celebrates eight kids and eight designers involved in Sk8 for Gr8’s latest workshops. Proceeds will go to Nebula, an organisation that works with children in Valhalla Park and Gugulethu. Find more details about the event here.
