Sebastian Herkner’s MBRACE Collection For DEDON

A combination of woven fibre seating and a solid teak base makes the Mbrace collection of outdoor chairs stand out from the crowd.

Imagine wrapping yourself in a chair, like a woven blanket you can place around your shoulders. This feeling is the inspiration behind product designer Sebastian Herkner’s Mbrace outdoor lounge chairs for Dedon. He designed the seating with an extra-wide backrest so it would provide comfortable support and create a feeling of being cocooned. The collection comprises a wingback chair, a lounger, a rocker and a footstool.

The design approach, says Herkner, has brought a new attitude to the Dedon brand with the addition of a solid teak base to the finely crafted woven fibre seating and the incorporation of three colourways, Atlantic, Spice and Pepper, which allow for mixing and matching across the range.

Developed over three years from concept to final product, the Mbrace collection had just been launched when it received the Best of Best Iconic Award 2016 in the category Interior Innovation at the interiors show IMM Cologne.
