From adorable cat-inspired “bread toys” and music made for cats to a Lionel Smit sculpture in the US, these are the VISI team’s top picks of the week.
1. Bread Cat Toys
“South Korean artist Rato Kim’s Bread Cat toys are inspired by the way cats like to sit with their paws hidden,” says online editor Lindi Brownell Meiring. “I think they’re adorable!”

2. Lionel Smit’s “Morphous” in NYC
Lionel Smit is one of my favourite local artists and I am super-proud to hear of his latest international installation in the States — a bronze sculpture — that has been erected in Union Square, New York,” says features editor Tracy Greenwood.

3. Music For Cats
“As a music lover I can’t believe that people have come up with actual music that cats enjoy,” says content producer Michaela Stehr. “And it sounds really beautiful to the human ear too.”

4. Cool Capital South African Pavilion at 2016 Venice Biennale
“I love the selection of projects that were on display this year,” says editor-at-large Malibongwe Tyilo. “Cool Capital has really pushed the boundaries and challenged creative thinking.”

5. African Catwalk
“We need more publicity and acknowledgement when it comes to all things African,” says art director Anton Pietersen. “This book – which highlights elements of the continent’s fashion industry – does just that.”
