Play with soft cotton-candy colours like lilac, mint green, dove grey and light pink and blue. “Pastels look welcoming when paired with white or cream, or punctuated with neon accents,” says KC.
Pastel rooms don’t have to look sugary sweet – softer colours can be sophisticated when paired with strong, bold accents and accessories. A dirty pink wall complements masculine 1970s-style furniture, keeping the look from being too hard or too romantic. If all-over sherbet shades are too much for you, paint a bright accent wall to break it up. Pastel shades work well in bedrooms and bathrooms, because they have a calming effect.
