The annual Open Design Cape Town Festival (which we recently featured here) is on from 12 – 23 August 2015 – and we can’t wait! Here are eight cool things happening around the city you might want to diarise.
Open Design Cape Town Festival 2015 Opening Party
To celebrate the start of 12 days of design, Open Design is hosting an official party in the Mother City, complete with delicious snacks from The Good Life and The Scandalous Food Truck. Cash bar available.

Design Is For Tomorrow Open Design Showcase
This exhibition focuses on design as an agent for change. Curated by Open Design in collaboration with INDEX: Design to Improve Life®, you’ll be able to see a selection of local and international products and projects demonstrating innovation and entrepreneurship.

Live Design Woodstock Street Art Walking Tour
It’s not often you get offered the chance to go on a guided tour of Woodstock’s amazing street art, created by both local and international talent, including Falko One, Faith47 and Gaia.

The popular TEDx Cape Town is back. This year’s theme centres around “Open Access Control” and how this affects society in different contexts.

Architectural Open Studios will be running over two days this year, allowing visitors into the studios of leading Cape Town architects to discover more about architectural practise and interact with the architects themselves. Participating architects include Greg Wright Architects, VDMMA, MWP Architects, Eco Design Architects, KMH Architects, Metropolis Design Architects, dhk architects, Meyer & Associates, Revel Fox and Partners, Stauch Vorster, SAOTA and DesignSpace Africa.

A range of entertaining speakers will each present 20 images displayed for 20 seconds, on a wide range of design-related topics. It’s an evening focused on interactive and inspired fun.
