The famous Mama Shelter hotel group is set to bring its mix of humour and fun to the Mother City in 2026 with its first South African hotel and residences.

The brand is known for its flamboyant interiors and for creating a fun, welcoming haven for guests. Founded by Serge and Jérémie Trigano, Mama Shelter opened its first property, Mama Shelter Paris East, in 2008 and has since expanded globally, with locations in France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the USA and now South Africa. The Cape Town project is being developed by Kasada and Ingenuity and forms part of Ennismore, a global collective of entrepreneurial and founder-built brands with creativity and purpose at their heart.

Situated on Bree Street, on the former site of the Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital, Mama Shelter Residences Cape Town – a mixed-use redevelopment with 62 apartments and a 127-suite hotel – will bring new energy to what is arguably one of the coolest streets in the world.
