Joburg Hot Spot: Marble

Renowned South African chef David Higgs has opened a stylish new restaurant that exudes sophistication and contemporary flair.

Situated at Trumpet on Keyes in Joburg’s Rosebank, the overall feel was conceptualised by owner David Higgs and business partner Gary Kyriacou. Interior designer Irene Kyriacou of Oniroco and Reddeco brought this vision to life with ceramics by Mervyn Gers, photography by Krisjan Rossouw, a Dolos installation by Peter Mthombeni, branding by Grid and a bar panel and pass by Damien Grivas.

The aim was to create an impression beyond the food, making the experience fully sensory. Fire is the continuing theme throughout the restaurant from the way food is prepared and the subject matter in the photographs to the flame-blue kitchen tiles. Each dish is prepared over coals, whether meat-based or vegetarian.

Marble has been nominated for an Eat Out 2016 Boschendal Style Award.
