Together with Whisky Creek Brands, Jamie Oliver’s first Italian restaurant in South Africa aims to bring an affordable and relaxed dining experience to local shores.
Jamie and his partner and mentor, Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo have over 15 restaurants worldwide and 45 in the UK, all producing delicious and sustainable Italian fare.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be bringing Jamie’s Italian to South Africa,” adds Jamie. “Johannesburg is an incredible city with an established food scene, so to be opening a restaurant here is a huge honour for me. Right now we’re in the process of recruiting a brilliant new team who will become part of our ever-growing Jamie’s Italian family. When we open the doors, we’ll be serving up beautiful, simple, great-value Italian food, all made with the very best-quality ingredients we can get our hands on.”
The restaurant, which will be located at Shop 15, Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, is set to open during the second half of 2016, with more restaurants in South Africa to follow.
