Interior designer? Take note!

Great prizes are up for grabs in this year’s South African Interior Designer of the Year awards. Students and seasoned professionals can now enter.

The aim of this initiative is to recognise and reward outstanding interior decorators, designers and architects, and to acknowledge design excellence while encouraging innovation, new ideas and techniques across South Africa.

The three categories in which designers can enter include:

–  The Student Category

–  The Interior Decorator awards, including the Residential Decoration Category and the Commercial Decoration Category

– The Interior Designer prize, which covers the Residential Design, Hospitality Design, Corporate Design, Retail Design and Public Design categories

Other awards include Design Excellence and Innovation, Environmentally Sustainable Design and Best 3D Design Award. There will also be a Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be decided by public vote.

The Judges for the awards have been carefully selected and all decisions will be under the gaze of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) and International Design Alliance (IDA). Jurors include Neill Strydom, MD of The Fabric Library; Naomi Larkin, Editor of House and Leisure; Ryan Illgner, President of IID Professions and Director of Blacksmith Africa; Marcia Margolius, Author of SA Décor & Design; and celebrity entertainer Nataniël.

Applicants stand the chance of winning prizes donated by sponsors like The Fabric Library, Bang & Olufsen, Twiice Group, ROMO, Freeworld Design Centre, InteriCAD, IID Professions, Carrol Boyes, Corpsecure, Air France, Maison & Objet and SA Décor & Design – The Buyers’ Guide. The overall winners will also have the opportunity to showcase their work at the Freeworld Design Centre.

Awards will be presented at the Awards Gala Dinner to be held in Johannesburg in November 2011. Entries can be made online or at any Fabric Library showroom nationwide.

Note that the Awards are sponsored by The Fabric Library in association with House and Leisure and The South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions (IID).
