Just in case you needed another reason to add Portugal to your bucket list, enter Hotel Minho.

Situated in Alto Minho, Northern Portugal, the 60-room hotel by architect João Pedro Pereira features elegant, minimal modern Portuguese design both in the interior and exterior, exemplified with linear, clean lines, neutral tones, light wood, and pops of bright colours in its accessories and textiles.

R2 were commissioned to work on the corporate image and signage. The stag – a symbol of the region – was chosen as the identity and designed in various positions.

There are also five suites that are independent from the main building, each takes its inspiration from five renowned artists: Andy Warhol, Almada Negreiros, Salvador Dalí, Diego Valázquez and Vincent Van Gogh.

From hiking to horseback riding, kayaking to paragliding, this is an outdoor adventurers paradise. After all that activity exploring the beautiful surroundings, you’re going to want to book a treatment at Hotel Minho’s honey and wine spa. Yep, you heard right. The spa uses honey and local raw ingredients used in the region’s signature Vinho Verde in many of the therapies on offer. Honey and grapes are incorporated into massages, baths and exfoliating treatments, utilising the grape seeds in their whole form, as well as oil extracts.

And while we’re on the topic, in-between enjoying the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and Turkish bath, you’re able to savour the locally produced Vinho Verde (“green wine”) and other signature wines from the region either in the hotel’s restaurant, Braseirão do Minho, which specialises in traditional dishes from the area, or from the surrounding vineyards that are easily accessible on day trips.

Hotel Minho is located at E.N. 13, Vila Meã 4920-140, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal. For more information, visit hotelminho.com.
