Cape Town-based interior architecture and design studio Xperiencemakers have transformed a level two heritage site into an organic market and restaurant space that oozes rustic flair and homely ambiance.
Located in picturesque Paarl, Back’s Deli is the very first outlet of award-winning cheese and wine maker Charles Back’s organic deli/restaurant franchise; The Butcher, The Baker, Cheese and Winemaker.
Seasoned in the architectural design of wine and cheese tasting facilities, Xperiencemakers were called on to develop a space that humbly boasts Back’s Deli’s quirky design elements, such as custom pot-plant light fittings, garden shed tools hanging in the dining hall and printed farm-life motifs. The brief was to develop a franchise identity that is fuelled by the Fairview brand personality, as well as that of its owner Charles Back.
The inviting interiors are reminiscent of farm-life where hearty plates of food are paired with palette tantalising wines. The style is nouveau-cum-modern-organic and features a quaint interplay of organic matter, neutral colours and whimsical installations at every turn. Custom-designed wallpapers, upholstery fabric and furniture elements ensure the continuation of the voice throughout future franchises.
Back’s Deli is situated at 191 Main Road, Paarl.
