Los Angeles-based illustrator Joey Chou reinterprets Disney favourites, creating his own fantastical works of art that bring out the inner kid in all of us.
Joey, who was born in Taiwan, found drawing an easier way to express himself and to communicate while growing up. When he got older he chose to study illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He drew a great deal of influence from Disney artist Mary Blair, Miroslav Sasek, Alice and Martin Provensen and Ezra Jack Keats, as well as geometry from the ’60s and ’70s and comic books.
Today he illustrates picture books and creates concept art for animated films, including Kung Fu Panda and Finding Nemo: Nemo’s Day Off.
