WORDS Michaela Stehr
Open Design Cape Town describes their 12-day event as an “annual cross-disciplinary city-wide event aimed at creating an educational, informative, inclusive and collaborative platform.”
The main concept behind the festival is to promote the sharing of design-related ideas throughout the city. The theme for the 2015 festival is Design For Tomorrow, which focuses on the development and future of design not only in Cape Town and South Africa, but on an international level too.
Expect a myriad of activities, ranging from parties, exhibitions and pop-up shops to talks and interactive events. Open Design Cape Town is set to kick off on Wednesday 12 August 2015 until Sunday 23 August 2015.
The V&A Waterfront and the Cape Town City Hall will serve as the primary venues during the course of the festival, while other activities will spread throughout the city.
