Blurring the boundaries between wake and sleep, Between Two Worlds is a dreams-like, multi-sensory botanical installation that instantly transports visitors to an alternate reality. Created by Leon Kluge, who was named Landscaper of the Year 2024, this lush exhibition will be unveiled at Hazendal Wine Estate from April 22 to May 2 – perfectly timed to coincide with Earth Day.

Between Two Worlds

The acclaimed landscape artist is known for his bold and thought-provoking creations. Leon pushes the boundaries of garden design by blending exceptional artistic vision and horticultural expertise to create spaces that inspire and educate people about Botanics. Last year, he won “Best Exhibit in the Pavilion” as well as the “Best New Design” award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show held in London with perfect scores from the RHS judges. Between Two Worlds also took top honours – a gold medal, “Best on Show”, and “Best Lighting” awards – at the 2024 Singapore Garden Festival.

Between Two Worlds forms part of Hazendal’s approach to inspire cultural conversations through meaningful art, considered craftsmanship, and mindful innovation. The estate is also partnering with Leon Kluge to reimagine the gardens across the historic property and create in the farm’s vineyards a new botanical garden dedicated to the renosterveld community of the Cape Floristic Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tickets for the otherworldly exhibition are limited and available via Quicket. | hazendal.co.za
