My business partner Pearl Thompson has been living in Paris this year, so my husband (artist Paul Edmunds) and I went over to see her. As it happened, Pearl was off on a trip around France with her folks, which meant we had the use of a wonderful apartment on the fifth floor of a 19th century block in beautiful Montmartre.
Paul lived in Paris for a year as a 22-year old after having won the Volkskas Atelier award, and it was his first trip back. I’ve been a Francophile ever since high school, so our French is good and we know the city, which meant we could just wander around galleries and lunch spots without feeling obliged to see the sights. It was without a doubt the perfect way to mix business and pleasure.
