UNISA Cape Town Campus

  • Higher Education : Natural light streams in through the double-glazed glass, minimising dependence on electricity. The harvested rainwater is used in the dual low-flush toilet cisterns.|
  • Higher Education : Based on inspiring quotes and visuals, colourful mosaics in the inner courtyard prod the imagination of students and drive discussions as they grapple with ideas.|
  • Higher Education : The north facade of the new south block is fully glazed with clear glass and shaded with large wooden screens, allowing maximum light into the centre of the building.|
  • Higher Education : A central courtyard invites both socialising and solace. Abundant light, green plants and colourful artwork all conspire to create a stimulating yet serene environment.|

We featured Phase 2 of the UNISA Cape Town campus in the latest issue of VISI.

On 1 August 2014, the winners of the 2013/2014 Corobrik-South African Institute for Architects (SAIA) Awards were announced – and this design by architect Michele Sandilands (of Michele Sandiands Architects) won a coveted Award of Excellence.
