Good news for Fabric House fans who are based in Pretoria: the popular fabric store that sells handpicked short ends, remnants and end-of-range soft furnishing fabrics has opened its doors in the capital city.
Decorators, designers and lovers of beautiful fabric who have been making the drive to Johannesburg to sample the wares of Heather Lund Truter’s inspiring concept store will now just be a short trip away.
The new shop is in a converted house in trendy Nieu Muckleneuk and stocks the same offerings sourced from top-end local and international fabric houses, manufacturers and textile converters as well as a select range of decor items and special scatter cushions.
For Heather, this is the next step in her plan to stake a solid claim in South Africa’s fabric scene. The Fabric House first opened in Kramerville, Johannesburg, a mere 18 months ago and it has grown exponentially since then.
“I think the secret is the instant gratification,” Heather says. “My clients appreciate the fact that what they see is what they get… the Pretoria interiors market is a discerning one and I’m looking forward to introducing my service concept to a whole new decor community.”
The store is launching with a range of soft corduroys, luxurious suedes, velvets and faux furs for winter. A good selection of its bestseller linens will also be available – from quaint French Vintage to lavish Indian as well as the Irish, popular for both curtaining and upholstery, and the finest selection from Belgium.
The Fabric House is at 122 Bronkhorst Street Nieu Muckleneuk, Pretoria. More information: 012 346 7346 or heather@thefabrichouse.co.za
