New HQ for Liam Mooney

Product designer Liam Mooney has said goodbye to Woodstock and hello to the Cape Town City Bowl. His new shop at 64 Wale Street opened in May 2011.

The store will soon be part of hub of good living, with a chocolatier planning to set up shop next door to Liam, while a gallery will sit above.

Liam is particularly chuffed with the high ceilings and wooden floors of his new space. A larger room leads into a smaller back room where furniture and decor items have been skillfully placed, creating a space that feels so homely you’re tempted to schlump on Liam’s Low Back Settee and put your feet up on his Folded Coffee Table. His signature Arc Lamp illuminates the shop window, highlighting the Campbell chair and stool.

The designer has been designing products and furniture under his own label since 2006. As one of the founding members of the Whatiftheworld / Design Studio, he was responsible for promoting the work of young South African designers.

If you’re in Cape Town, go have a look at the new headquarters of one of South Africa’s favourite designers. Opening hours are 10h00 – 16h00 on Mondays to Fridays and 10h00 – 14h00 on Saturdays.
