WORDS Michaela Stehr
The Folly, local textile brand Mungo’s biggest and brightest beach towel to date, is a self-proclaimed happy accident.
“Weaver’s folly’ is what the team at Mungo explain as an error on the loom, which in this case resulted in a different outcome to what was initially planned for The Folly towel.
“On the warp for the Vrou Vrou we made a mistake, and then we made this mistake into not one, but three perfect products.
The towel is also named after the quaint town of Folly Beach in South Carolina, just south of Charleston where we have recently based our American online shop. A sleepy, surfer’s haven of a city, nothing says summer like its salty sea air, the sticky ice cream hands of small children, and a strolling along its iconic dock down by the water.”

The Folly is available in three colourways, Fiddler Crab and Blue Crab, creatures indigenous to the area of Folly Beach in South Carolina, where Mungo recently launched an online store.
