Team VISI: Lesego Masekela, Annemarie Meintjes and Mpho Mphaga

WORDS Amelia Brown

The South African interior design reality TV competition is back for its fourth season, and so is Team VISI.

This year promises to be “double the fun” as, instead of individuals competing for the title of the country’s best emerging interior designers, there are Design Duos.

Each of the three duos have been paired up with an industry mentor and tasked with decorating one of three homes at the Eye of Africa luxury golf and residential estate, south of Johannesburg.

VISI’s very own Assistant Editor Annemarie Meintjes is one of the mentors who will be working with Design Duo interior designers Mpho Mphaga and Lesego Masekela. “For me, it’s not about winning,” says Annemarie. “But what is very important is that this programme is going to establish them as interior designers of the future. Win a Home is the only competition on television for young designers and it is going to open doors.” Follow Lesego and Annemarie on Twitter for updates.

Other contestants include Abiah Mahlase and Bradley Muttitt of Team Habitat with mentor Amanda Graham, and Tshepo Sealetsa and Banele Khoza of Team House and Leisure with mentor Tiaan Nagel.

The Design Duos will be competing for two prizes: The Judges’ Choice, a cash prize of R100 000, is awarded by the panel of judges, and The Viewers’ Choice. Viewers can vote online for their favourite pair and design, and the team with the most accumulated votes will win R20 000.

Catch Win a Home on SABC3 talk show Afternoon Express on Fridays between 4pm and 5pm. One lucky viewer stands the chance to win the grand prize of their choice of one of the three homes in the Eye of Africa estate, valued at over R3 million.
