WORDS Michaela Stehr
Springfontein Eats is a rustic yet chic eatery offering elegant country dining in the small Western Cape town of Stanford.
A converted farmstead that’s surrounded by lawns and trees houses the new restaurant, with elements of the farm’s history adapted into the design of the space. Architect Maureen Wolters stripped the farmhouse of any modern additions, transporting it back to a traditional heritage Cape Dutch home.
Together with touches of quirkiness, the interiors are soft and pared back, with subdued tones and subtle lighting. Exposed sandstone walls and warm yellowwood beams give the interior a homely feel.
Simple organic elements such as fruit, plants or herbs serve as table decor. The opportunity to dine outside under a shaded patio is the perfect option for summer.

Springfontein Eats has been nominated for an Eat Out 2016 Boschendal Style Award.
