To find out what is trending in the world of bathroom design, we looked to global manufacturer Kohler for an expert opinion.

The Kohler bathroom and kitchen brand is synonymous with quality and originality. We asked Head of Global Design Mark Bickerstaffe which bathroom styles and concepts are popular right now.

1. It’s authentic

There has been a shift – inspired by globalisation and travel – towards decoration with artisanal pieces and cultural relics infused with personality and memory, colour and pattern.

2. Reclaimed furniture

Recycling, reusing and renewing is a growing trend. Using reclaimed furniture, even in the bathroom, is gaining in popularity as people look to add more charm and character to their living spaces.

3. Simple beauty

This trend is underpinned by clean lines, perfect proportions and concealment of storage and functional detail.

4. Eco-friendly living

Bathroom designers have become more environmentally conscious. Water saving and carbon-footprint reduction are priorities, so taps and showers increasingly have aerators installed, for example.

5. The power of colour

In terms of colour, on the one hand we’re keeping it natural with pale tones drawn from neutral elements found in nature, and on the other hand mirrored metallics are all the rage.
