German interior photographer Sebastian Erras has picked up a fanbase of more than 160 000 followers on Instagram, and it comes as no surprise.

Search #ihavethisthingwithfloors on Instagram and you’ll find hundreds of thousands of snaps from around the world of people standing on magical mosaic tiles. Titled parisianfloors, Sebastian does just that – capturing himself (in a pair of remarkable shoes) standing on intricately detailed floors, covered in colourful designs.

Below, we’ve chosen 21 of our favourites from his account, from floral flooring in Valencia to beautiful patterns spotted in Cuba.

⚡️? Best of 2017 ?⚡️ Then in February I got invited to @cevisama and spent some time with @lageorgienne and her family in Valencia. Valencia is also known for its historic and unique Nolla design floors. I managed to shoot some of the special floors, but I definitely would love to discover some more there. This one is in my all time Top 3 of floors I have ever encountered. ?⚡️ Best of 2017 ⚡️? Let’s start this Best of series of my favourite floors that I shoot this year. In the beginning of the year I finally managed to go to Les Papilles, a restaurant in the 5th arrondissement near the Pantheon. I had discovered this floor for a long time already but every time I went there it was super crowded and impossible to shoot, bit this year I was lucky and went there just before they would close and then had enough space to take a picture. ??Cubanfloors?? We have come to an end of the cuban floors series in collaboration with @gucci. I hope all of you enjoyed this series as much as I did. I think it’s the best floor series I’ve shot so far. I want give a big thank you to @gucci for supporting me on this and helping me realize a long term dream. A even bigger thank you to all the lovely cubans that hosted us on our trip and that welcomed us in their homes and shared their experiences with us. Last but not least to my @lageorgienne ❤️ This is one of the floors that stood out most to me. During the whole trip we have encountered numerous floors with similar floral inspired designs or color palettes but this one was definitely different so was the location where we found this. While strolling through the streets of Trinidad we stumbled upon a building with quite a big door and when we took a peek inside the room was filled with pregnant woman waiting for their appointment in their rocking chairs. We ended up at a maternity. I am not sure who was more surprised, us once we realized what we found or them once they saw what we were doing. It was definitely a funny sight and there was a lot of laughter when we explained that we take pictures of floors.
