The Earthship initiative is a community founded by Michael Reynolds near Taos, New Mexico. These sustainable homes are completely off the grid.
Walls are constructed using tyres, earth, cement, cans and glass bottles. The green buildings are designed to provide electricity, water, contain sewerage treatment and produce sustenance and nourishment for those living there by using what the earth provides.
The Earthship Academy also teaches like-minded people and architecture enthusiasts about the values and ways to implement these techniques into their lives.
