Avid skateboarder George Rocha has carved out a career for himself by upcycling old skateboards to create functional works of art, from coffee tables to tap handles.

“I mean, at the end of the day it’s reusable maple,” says George in the clip. “These skateboards were once being thrown into a landfill, but now they’re being made into works of art that are also functional,” a key aspect of George’s work.

He’s also the man behind Iris Skateboards, which too use recycled skateboards, 20 per board to be exact, to make new, unique decks.
