Villa 47’s Martini Terrazza, located on Bree Street in Cape Town, has been revamped by architect and designer Hanno de Swardt of ONNAH DESIGN.

Completed in December last year, the design brief required a total revamp and rebrand, from former sponsor Absolut to new sponsor Martini. This chic interior overhaul took a record time of just three weeks to complete, two weeks of which were focused around the restaurant’s busy dining services. “The project interior, including signage, were executed in line with the prescribed brand identity, with red as the main accent colour,” says Hanno. “The brief was to create an authentic, stylish yet relaxed space, a fusion of laid back Cape Town and Italian style.”

Aside from a few salvaged items that were upcycled, the interiors were brought to life with all-new designer furniture from brands such as Bloc Outdoor, Weylandts, @home, Patio Warehouse and Mobelli. Through the application of a varied and layered textural palette, ONNAH DESIGN achieved a warm ambience that encourages togetherness.

A stained-ash finish seen on the bar and accent walls is gently contrasted by lime-washed South African pine. Faux greenery by Plant Couture and Easyivy is combined with timber cladding, and vinyl, velvet, marble and brass are complemented by Robin Sprong wallpaper that resembles a white-washed brick wall.
